My how different war is on your doorstep than it is through your T.V.
When the narrator was talking about self esteem and resistance, about how the people in Gaza have been told for so long that they're worthless that many of them have begun to believe it, I couldn't help but be reminded of (as has happened before in this course) things like slavery, women's rights ('round the world), and even the Holocaust. People are beaten down and controlled by ideas throughout the world and throughout history. This happens, of course, all over the world today, but it's both sad and refreshing to hear about children fighting against those ideas and adults helping the kids see where the ideas come from and why they're wrong.
I am a Senior at Western Michigan University studying Comparative Religion and English (Arts and Sciences). I spend most of my time working and doing homework but occasionally I manage to find time to ride my horse.
